- Al compás de Lorca

LorcaThe name of Federico García Lorca, the poet of the soul, will be forever linked to/with  flamenco’s world. Romancero Gitano, Poema del Cante Jondo, Bodas de Sangre, La Casa de Bernarda Alba or Yerma are some of the works in which  the great poet from Granada showed his passion and his interest in the ancient  tradition of flamenco

… A tradition that for itself expressed its impulses , music, spiritual and poetic feelings of the author.  His work contains every sigh, every tear, every drop of blood, every dream, every sunray…

Love, pride, passion and violent death were his source of inspiration.

”Over the course of my career, immersed in the wonderful world of dance, I could not fail to overlook the remarkable

influence that the great poet, Federico García Lorca, had in on Spanish art. The influence of ballet in his work is very visible: certain scenes in “Bodas de Sangre”; the washers in “Yerma”, as well as many others passages designed, almost exclusively, as artistic and musical effects. Nowadays Flamenco is standing out among other art forms with special importance because it is the stronger and more genuine expression of/from people, of their prints, their traditions …

It is my honor to share the stage on this show with the incredibly expressive artist Cecilia Garcia Amaro. Her song “To Federico” took my soul from the first moment, when from afar I discovered her voice.
