THE COMPANY

After having worked in choreography in various lyric companies and having trainedextensively with prestigious masters in the disciplines os Spanish Dance and Flamenco, Maria Carrasco founded in 1994 the company in her own name to take part in competición “New Flamenco Talent”, celebrated in the patios of Conde Duque in Madrid an sponsored by the city council On winning the first prize, the company toured the most prestigious venues of the Madrid flamenco circuit, where the consistency of the performances and her art, won her the recognition of the critics and evergrowing public.

Diring 1995-96, the company performed at many festivals both in Spain and abroad, whit a flamenco not only youthful and fresh, but also real an intense. The performance incluide “La Galadela Danza” in The Real Colise Carlos III in San Lorenzo del Escorial, The Flamenco Festival on Lublin, Poland, The Taurina Festival of Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador, The Andalucian Festival in Miami, Florida, USA, Red Cross Gala, Mexico DF and for the launch of magazine “Andalucia in the World”, in Havana, Cuba.

Her firs show, staged in 1997, El Compás de la Palabra, was directed by the excellent actor Nicolas Dueñas, by the flamencologist and poet Francisco Almazán and by the veteran Máximo Valverde as narrador. This show unites the music, song and the flamenco dance whit the verses of Antonio Machado, Federico Garcia Lorca, Francisco Hervás and Francisco Almazán. It has showed in various tetares ciscuits in Madrid, Salamanca, Extremadura y Castilla-La Mancha with great success.

In 1998 the company created its second spectaculas Tiempos flamencos. Showing at the Maria Luisa Theatre of Mérida, Santa Maria de Plasencia, The Congres Palace of Salamanca, The Pontevedra Theatre, Circulo de Bellas Artes of Lisboa, Oporto University and the Cervantes Institute os Beirut, Lebanon. Again, for the social and cultural projects of Caja Madrid, it was chose for the Tetares os Castilla-La Mancha. The company toured various cities in Japan and South Korea with this spectaculas in 1999.

The year 200 saw the honouring of the show Tiempos Flamencos with its selection to represent Flamenco Dancer by the organising comité of “Los Veranos dela Villa” in  Madrid, along whit the companies of Juaquin Cortes and Antonio Canales. The show, now expanded and incluiding new creations, gota n enthusiastic reception from the critics and public, and continuing whit its success, was brought to the theatre Bellas Artes of Madrid, and went on to tour the tetares os Spain.

Maria Carrasco created and produced, in yeas 2002, one of the most ambitious and original shows of the company, Carmen. The store of this universal myth is recreated from the perspectiva of a female gaza, with the originality whitch characterizes her work, and with a fusiono f different dance styles: tango, flamenco and contemporary. In “Carmen” twenty artist take the stage with live music and some of the bes-know scenes from Bizet´s opera.

In 2002 Carmen was performance as parto f the program Los Veranos dela Villa, with shows in the patio of Conde Duque in Madrid, and it was the biggest show of the season.

Appearings in various tetares and auditorios in Spain, work arrived again in Madrid to runa t the theatre Nuevo Apolo and to continue on toa n important tour of Centro America.

The VII edicion of the Max awards place Carmen as finalist in the cathegory “Best dance show” and Maria Carrasco as “Best performance”

In 2005, Embrujo, her new show, open befote the spectaculas a delicate World of flamenco dance which entices the public into an accesible rendition of clasical flamenco. With new coreographics charged with emotions. Mix of magic dance color and theatrical surprise force, impact and geniality for a Flamenco which takes its place amoungst the highest art from of our time.

It has been performanced in the tetares  circuito f Madrid providence and Castilla-La Mancha, Festival of Oeiros in Portugal, Festival os San Manigo in Mallorca and it has tour the nacional tetares of Centro America with outright success. It has also appeared in the theatre Amaya, theatre Lara of Madrid and the theatre Alameda in Malaga. It has participated in important events in the Hotel Ritz and Hotel Palace in Madrid, The Pardo Palace, the Thyssen musseum, appeared at the Antenas de Oro awards 2008 of the Association of Spanish radio and tv. And the 150 anniversary of Credit Suisse Bank. And for the nacional day of France in the grand Hotel Du Palaus in Biarritz. In this same year show arrived in Beijin, during the olimpics. And in Dakar, Senegal in the “II Festival Afroflamenco”

In 2006 she created the children show Cinderella adapted for spanish dance for children with enterteining and stimulating coreography stage desig and imaginative costumes. The show witch open on imaginative World througth creative imagines, movements and sighting, humor and feelings. This show run for two months at the theatre Amaya in Madrid and also during various nacional tetares and artistic spaces and it was afterwards cosen to participate in the Festival Paiz in Guatemala, there it was roted best children show.

In 2007 she created a new producction Al Compas de Lorca, a spectaculas whitch seeks to reveal the sensitivity of the great poet by uniting his work the emotive voice of flamenco to reveal the deepest expressions of this tradition. This show has an expresive staging and using painting, set design and projection by the medican artist Cecilia Garcia Amaro, who also lends her voice in her own songs created for the Granada poet and her emotions reciting his poems. Some of the best-known and  most popular poems of Lorca are interpreted with anthentic feelings and with life musicians songs and dance.

Since its creation Al compas de Lorca has been enjoyed as the most important show in the Panama Nacional Theatre as par of the prestigious Annual Book, Festival in2007, inthe XXV Anniversary of the theatre Cecut in Mexico, as well as in the “Harvest Festival” in Mexico. And in differents theathers.

In 2009 she created her most recent spectaculas Flamenco Libre this show is componed of various district musical styles, with artist from different countries who are united by a commen denominador, their visiono f a World united by art, where flamenco is the meeting point of all invited.

This show was staged at the theatre Arenal of Madrid, Where because of its popularity had an extended internacional Festivals like the festival “ Musica Entre Actos”, in the theatre Lara Lara in Madrid, or the Festival of Figueira Da Foz in Portugal.

At the moment the company continues to performance with its repertoire at various events internationaly as well as on going developement of new projects.
